My Year in Review
"New Year, New Me" am I right? Most people find themselves saying that this time of year but I on the other hand believe you can change WHENEVER you want. The 🔑 (key) to that is believing that you can actually do it when so many have doubted you. I didn't start 2015 with that generic ass quote but instead with "I'm Too Blessed To Be Stressed" -- kinda weird right? That quote meant that by no means was I going to take on work, friends, drama, and all of the above that would stress me out. From that came one the BEST year I have had thus far -- WHY? Because I took full control over my destiny. While that sounds like a cheesy motivational meme (probably with Drake's face on it), I really meant it because the proof is in my year.
When I graduated, I was in a hard place. I had been freelancing for such a long time that I thought I would never take on corporate job but when that corporate job was my dream job I couldn't refuse. I thought I could do it ALL but that shortly came to an end when I got hit by a car. That accident came to me as not a downfall but an opportunity to rise from the ashes. I didn't let my accident stop me from traveling as much as I could and wanted to. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and what makes you strong
Speaking of travel, 2015 was the year I spread my wings and flew to Key West, Los Angeles ( four times to be exact) and found myself in Philadelphia, Boston, + more!
Traveling helped me realize one important lesson: People always say that falling in love, and everything that happens after, is the ONE greatest thing that could ever happen in your life. I refuse to believe that because I have learned that traveling teaches you more about love than what one person could ever do. It's a love that is endless and can happen as many times as you choose to. The beauty of the world, seen through your eyes, is something you shouldn't deprive yourself of. And if you have fallen in love, before these moments happen, travel with that person.
Looking back at this year I realized that I went out more, stayed in less, went to Broadway shows, concerts, festivals, and hung out with some pretty awesome people. I met some pretty big celebrities, worked red carpets, mean mugged on TV, went to movie premieres, festivals, galas, and more.
My favorite moments of the year included attending the MTV Movie Awards, VH1's BIG in 2015, Graduating College, and starting the most amazing job ever. I often get asked "how do you do it all?" and I don't think I say it enough but I never seek the validation of my happiness from others.
2016 is my journey to more success, bumpy roads, and becoming stronger through the storm. You can't walk into a new year expecting everything to be perfect. Once you acknowledge that "life happens", dealing with the bad will be a much easier ride to the good.
Happy New Year + remember the road to success is never the easy one! #BlessUp
