Hi NYC, Have You Seen My Soulmate?
Before you read you this don't think what most people think when a 20- something says the word "soulmate"-- you're too young for that.
I don't think you have to be any particular age to want the best in life, especially when it comes to a significant other. Over the past few years, I've sat and observed the relationships of most of my friends, associates, and co- workers, etc. and I often hear the same story--bizarre run-ins with exes, the awkward one night stands, and more, but what I don't hear a lot of young people say (even I'm guilty of this) "where is my soulmate?"
Arielle Ford's The Soulmate Secret says "when deep down in the core of your being you believe that your soul mate exists, there is no limit to the ways he or she can enter your life."
Soulmates aren't a fairytale that's conjured up by Disney and says this is how life will be like. A soulmate is the puzzle piece that fits YOU best. Some people find theirs, others never do, and most people believe they have found theirs but not really. There is a different between loving someone and loving your soulmate.
I'm a firm believer of being in a committed relationship because the end goal is marriage. That's the whole point of being boyfriend/girlfriend. Your soulmate is the person you will want to spend the rest of your life with, no matter how old you are.
We, as humans, get so vested into people who have such little to no impact on our lives. It's time to cut those ties! Sure you will cry, hate yourself, and even throw a plate or two, but it's going to be OKAY. Who wants to wake up everyday and have to think about the drama, the arguing (I mean the unhealthy one), and the heartache.
So if you believe in Soulmates, keep believing because you shouldn't have to settle for less.
